Nuclear Power Corp continues investigation of coolant leak in Kakrapar

Nuclear Power Corporation has terminated emergency procedures in Kakrapar nuclear power station which it had announced in March ,2016 following coolant leak. Currently, Atomic Energy Regulatory Board is investigating the incident and is likely that it will take 6-8 months to get the plant operational. The nuclear plant which was built indigenously has a Pressurised Heavy Water Reactor (PHWR) and was commissioned on May 1993 with a capacity of 220 MW. In the mean time, NPC may undertake annual Maintenance in the interval.
