NLC plans 2400 MW Taraikela thermal power project

NLC India is planning to develop a 2400 MW coal based thermal power project in Khumberi village in Taraikela Tehsil in Jharsuguda district of Odisha. The project involves setting up of 3 x 800 MW supercritical thermal power units with an investment of ₹ 16,076 crores. It may be noted that, NLC has been awarded the Taraikela coal blocks recently.

The land requirement for the project is 1447 acres out of which 602 acres is main plant, 252 acres is greenbelt, 340 acres is ash pond and remaining area consists of reservoir, roads, township and corridors.

As of July 2020, the project is in planning stage.
