NTPC is planning to set up a 50 MW Liquefied natural gas project in Hope Town in Andaman & Nicobar islands. The company will implement the project through its subsidiary NTPC Vyapar Nigam Ltd. The project cost is estimated at ₹ 3878 million. The power plant can operate on dual fuel -liquefied natural gas – source from floating LNG terminal or high speed diesel from IOC station in Port Blair.
The project is likely to go operational by mid 2020. As of December 2018, foundation stone of the project has been laid.
