Incorporated in 1997 by Mr. Vasudeva Rao, NPCPL runs two hydroelectric power plants, with capacities of 6 megawatts (MW) each, in Karnataka. The first power plant began operations in July 2006, while the second unit became operational in January 2009. The company has a PPA with GESCOM for sale of power from the first unit, and has signed a draft PPA with GESCOM for off take from the second unit. Although NPCPL has signed only a draft PPA with GESCOM for off take from the second unit, it has been selling power to GESCOM from this unit.
